A 7-day Rwanda itinerary

Seven days is enough for the highlights without rushing: a gentle start in Kigali, the volcanoes and gorillas, and a rest by Lake Kivu. Here is one way to shape it.

One way to spend seven days

This is a starting point, not a fixed package. We adjust it around your arrival time, your gorilla permit date, and what matters most to you.

Days 1 to 2

Kigali, gently

Arrive, rest, and get your bearings. City highlights, good food, and an easy first day to shake off the flight.

Days 3 to 4

Musanze and gorillas

Drive north to the volcanoes. A permit-day trek, mountain air, and time around Musanze.

Day 5

Lake Kivu

A slower day by the water at Rubavu or Karongi, with the lake to yourself.

Days 6 to 7

Toward home

A final stretch back toward Kigali, with time for anything you missed before your flight.

Gorilla trekking depends on securing a permit through the official RDB portal. Build your dates around the permit, and confirm it early.
