Kigali to Akagera by private driver

Akagera National Park spreads across the eastern lowlands, a savanna landscape of lakes, grassland and wildlife that feels a world away from the hills of Kigali.

The drive east

Kigali to Akagera is commonly around two and a half to three and a half hours, depending on which gate and conditions. The landscape flattens and opens as you head east. Timing matters for wildlife, since early and late hours are best for game drives, so we plan the drive around when you want to be in the park.

A private driver gets you there comfortably; inside the park, game activities follow the park's own arrangements.

Road times are approximate and vary with traffic, weather and road works. We confirm current timing with you before anything is booked.
